Pekes and Pals Canine Rescue, Inc. is seeking volunteers to help with rescue, foster care and transportation.
Rescue responsibilities. As a Rescue Volunteer you will contact all shelters within a comfortable driving distance of your home. You will develop a rapport with them so they will notify you of any dogs available. You will contact Peggy Dunn, Chairman of the Rescue and Adoption Committee, to let her know there is a dog needing to be rescued, at which time she will contact the shelter to arrange for release.
Foster care responsibilities. As a Foster Volunteer you will provide a loving foster setting, veterinary care (including spay/neuter and recuperation attention) and temperament evaluation of dogs in your care. Pekes and Pals covers all veterinary expenses. Peggy Dunn will be in contact with you on a regular basis for updates on the dogs' temperment and health.
Transportation responsibilities. As a Transport Volunteer you will provide ground transportation to dogs needing to be moved from a shelter to foster care or from foster care to Pekes and Pals to meet a prospective adoptive family.
Home visit responsibilities. As a Home Visit Volunteer, you will do home visits to assess the suitability of families desiring to adopt.
